Description

For our client, a European technology and consulting company delivering next-generation digital transformation and cloud services, we are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join their growing engineering organization.

This role focuses on managing and optimizing large-scale, cloud-native PostgreSQL environments, working closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure performance, availability, and scalability in 24/7 production systems.
As a PostgreSQL DBA, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of mission-critical database platforms. You will be involved both in day-to-day operations and in strategic improvements of database architecture and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor PostgreSQL database performance and troubleshoot production issues
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize queries and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Improve existing database schemas and design new ones
  • Analyze new requirements and work with engineers to deliver optimal database solutions
  • Create, maintain, and enforce change control and testing processes
  • Review and approve database changes and deployments
  • Identify and improve database-related development and deployment practices (e.g., online schema changes)
  • Work with operations teams to investigate and resolve production defects and anomalies
  • Stay up to date with cloud-native, microservices, and database best practices

Your Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a 24/7 production environment
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration and engineering
  • Excellent SQL development and performance tuning skills
  • Experience designing and supporting large-scale production database platforms
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL system metrics and optimization techniques
  • Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
  • Fluent in English
